(JUBA COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Juba County has visited Lirya Payam to assess security and public service delivery, as local leaders called for improved health, education and administration.
Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon made the official visit to Lirya Payam on Friday 27 February 2026. He was accompanied by State Area Members of Parliament, the Chairperson of the County Legislative Council, area councillors, the County Executive Director, other county officials and a medical team from AJA Eye Centre.
During the visit, the AJA Eye Centre team conducted a one day medical outreach programme. Residents received free eye testing and protective glasses. Local authorities said the outreach aimed to improve access to basic health services in rural parts of Juba County.
Addressing residents, the Commissioner conveyed greetings from Emmanuel Adil Anthony Wani, Governor of Central Equatoria State. He thanked the Governor for continued support to Juba County and said the purpose of the visit was to review the security situation and assess service delivery in line with the state government policy direction.
As part of the tour, Hon. Tete visited several bomas including Ngangala, Ngulera and Lirya Boma. He pledged to renovate public facilities in the area and said the county would provide school uniforms and shoes to pupils to support education.
The Commissioner urged residents to maintain peaceful relations with neighbouring communities. He warned against division and said unity is essential for development and stability in South Sudan.
Hon. Daniel Jada Marcello called for stronger healthcare services and better administrative coordination within Lirya Payam to ensure effective implementation of development projects.
The Women’s Representative, Hon. Beatrice Safari Karlo, raised concerns about the shortage of recreational centres and schools. She also spoke about early marriage and drug abuse, including the consumption of small illicit alcoholic drinks.
She appealed for the deployment of administrators to different bomas to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Local officials said the visit reflects ongoing efforts by Juba County authorities to strengthen governance and improve basic services in communities across Central Equatoria State.
