
Central Equatoria Plans CoTAL Elections Within Six Months/PHOTO CREDITS: CESGPU
(JUBA, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – The Provisional Committee of the Council of Traditional Authority Leaders met Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony in Juba to present its plan to organise elections for CoTAL leadership within the next six months.
The newly formed committee, accompanied by the Director General from the Ministry of Local Government and representatives of law enforcement agencies, outlined steps to conduct and oversee the elections under its mandate.
During the meeting, committee members thanked the state government for the confidence placed in them to guide the process. They said they would work closely with state authorities to strengthen traditional leadership structures and support peace, unity and development across Central Equatoria State.
Governor Adil urged the committee to proceed with its mandate and ensure the electoral process is peaceful and credible. He said strong and accountable traditional leadership is important for effective local administration and improved service delivery in South Sudan.
The Governor added that orderly elections within local and traditional systems of governance would support stable leadership and sustainable development at community level.
The Provisional Committee reaffirmed its commitment to holding free, fair and credible elections for traditional leaders, saying this would promote social cohesion and strengthen cooperation between communities and government institutions.
