(MOROBO COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Morobo County, Hon. Charles Data Bullen, has held discussions with church leaders, community members, and local landlords over a proposed expansion of the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Morobo Town.
The meeting focused on securing community consent and promoting mutual understanding for planned development projects by the parish.
The visit followed an earlier meeting last week between Commissioner Bullen and a delegation from the parish, led by Rev. Fr. Ferington of the Don Bosco Congregation, at the Morobo County Headquarters.
The church had approached the County Administration seeking support for extending its land to accommodate several community based projects, including a boarding secondary school, a health facility and a vocational training centre.
According to Rev. Fr. Ferington, who took office about a month ago, the Don Bosco Congregation intends to begin the projects once the land issue is resolved and adequate space is secured.
During the follow up meeting, Commissioner Bullen, accompanied by the County Infrastructural Engineer, Mr. David Abusala, stressed the importance of involving all stakeholders in decision making.
He said transparency and consent from the community would help prevent disputes and promote harmony in the development process:
“These projects will play a significant role in improving access to education, healthcare, and vocational training for our people,” Commissioner Bullen said. “But both the church and the community must reach a shared understanding before anything moves forward.”
He encouraged the church leadership to proceed with realistic timelines once an agreement is reached, cautioning against a growing problem where institutions acquire land but fail to utilise it for years.
The discussions ended with a mutual agreement to continue consultations among the church, community leaders and landlords. The County Administration expressed optimism that the issue will soon be resolved to allow construction work to begin.
The proposed developments are expected to support local government goals of expanding service delivery in rural areas and improving access to essential social facilities.

If approved, the Holy Trinity Parish expansion could mark one of the largest church led development initiatives in Morobo County in recent years.
