(MOROBO) – Morobo County Commissioner Hon. Charles Data Bullen has donated school uniform materials to St. Charles Lwanga Primary School, which serves more than 800 pupils. Many of these pupils are returnees or internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by past conflict.
The donation was handed over during a short ceremony at the school grounds. It is intended to improve school attendance and promote equal access to education for children who have faced displacement and hardship.
Commissioner Bullen described education as a key part of the county’s recovery and growth, saying the county government remains committed to supporting learners. He said children represent the future of Morobo and emphasised that giving them uniforms is a way of recognising their right to education and making them feel valued, regardless of their background.
Parents and school staff welcomed the donation. Many families in Morobo continue to face economic challenges and struggle to meet basic school needs. The donation, they said, will reduce the burden on parents and encourage more children to attend school regularly.
The donated materials will cover all pupils at the school. The gesture is also expected to foster a sense of unity and equality among learners from various communities within Morobo.
Local leaders and education stakeholders praised the initiative. They called on other partners, including NGOs and development agencies, to join efforts in reviving the education system in Morobo, especially for vulnerable children.
