(JUBA) – South Sudan is working to bring all public funds under one Treasury Single Account, a reform aimed at making government spending clearer and more controlled.
The Ministry of Finance and Planning held a one day workshop on the Treasury Single Account in Juba on Thursday, together with the World Bank Group. The session targeted senior staff and key stakeholders to build awareness of the planned system.
First Undersecretary Malual Tap Diu told those gathered that the effort would make financial management stronger, improve openness and answerability, and see public resources used more wisely.
World Bank Group representative David Santos said the project would supply equipment to the Ministry of Finance to help run the Treasury Single Account. He said this would allow better control and smoother sharing of bank statements among South Sudan’s banks and partners.
Project Manager at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Letiyo Kevin, said the workshop aims to set up the Treasury Single Account in South Sudan. He added that all key reforms would be carried out to create a single structure where all public money is brought together.
