(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – A consultative peace meeting has been held in Kajo-Keji County to strengthen security and encourage displaced residents to return home. The gathering brought together leaders, community representatives and members of the organised forces on 14th August.
The meeting was supported by the Faith Development and Relief Agency, known as FADRA. It brought together participants from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces, the church, civil society organisations, women and youth groups, and representatives of persons with disabilities. Discussions focused on dialogue, cooperation and practical measures to sustain peace and stability in the county.
The Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County, Wani Jackson Mule, urged all participants to embrace peace and work together in promoting unity and reconciliation. He said peace is a shared responsibility and called on every stakeholder to support efforts aimed at ensuring a secure and stable environment for all residents.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Kajo-Keji, James Lule Kenyi, commended the men and women in uniform for their commitment to safeguarding the people of Kajo-Keji County. He appreciated the sacrifices made by the security forces in maintaining law and order and encouraged continued collaboration between the military, the church and local communities to strengthen peace and rebuild public trust.
The Area Commander, Brigadier General Henry Buri, reminded members of the army to maintain discipline and professionalism while carrying out their duties. He cautioned soldiers against engaging in any form of misconduct or behaviour that could intimidate civilians and discourage displaced citizens from returning to their homes.
