(KAJO-KEJI) – Local authorities in Kajo-Keji County have launched an urgent appeal for humanitarian assistance following a violent clash on 28 July 2025 between the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) in the Nyainga-Muda area of Bori Boma, Kangapo II Payam.
According to a statement issued by the County Commissioner, Hon. Wani Jackson Mule, the armed incident has displaced thousands of people, mostly women, children and other vulnerable individuals, who are now taking shelter in bushes, religious buildings and schools across the area. The affected population is reported to have little or no access to basic services, including food, clean water, shelter, health care and protection.
The commissioner described the situation as a growing humanitarian crisis and warned of further suffering if immediate action is not taken. He appealed to the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission of South Sudan, emergency response partners, humanitarian organisations, faith based institutions and the wider public to respond urgently.
The Kajo-Keji authorities are requesting support in the form of food items, non food items (NFIs) and medical supplies to address the pressing needs of the displaced population. Local officials have also called for coordinated efforts to deliver assistance and to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
The commissioner urged all humanitarian stakeholders to liaise directly with the County Relief and Rehabilitation Department for coordination and support delivery.
