(JUBA) – South Sudan and the United States have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector following talks between the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, and United States Ambassador to South Sudan, Michael J. Adler.
The discussion took place on Monday during a courtesy visit by Ambassador Adler to the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hon. Ateny expressed South Sudan’s gratitude to the Government and people of the United States for their longstanding support, including their contribution to the country’s liberation struggle. He reaffirmed the Government of South Sudan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the United States across areas of mutual interest, including the ICT sector.
The minister noted that enhanced collaboration in information and communication technology could contribute to the country’s development agenda and support efforts to improve digital services and connectivity.
Ambassador Adler reiterated Washington’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with South Sudan. He said the two countries have much to gain from their existing relationship and pledged continued cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The meeting underscored the growing importance of ICT as a key area for cooperation between South Sudan and the United States as both nations seek to deepen bilateral relations and promote development through technology.
