(SAMARIA, ISRAEL) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, Hon. Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba, met with the Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, on 3 August 2025 during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.
The meeting took place in Israel focused on areas of mutual interest and opportunities for deeper cooperation. While no specific agreements were signed, both sides expressed optimism about enhancing collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, education and innovation.
Yossi Dagan, who heads the Samaria Regional Council, welcomed the South Sudanese delegation and highlighted the symbolic significance of the Minister’s visit. He said the engagement reflected growing friendship and diplomatic maturity between the people of South Sudan and Israel, especially at subnational levels.
“This visit is a demonstration of the importance both our governments attach to building lasting partnerships,” Dagan said.
Ambassador Monday reiterated South Sudan’s commitment to advancing bilateral relations with Israel. He said the government in Juba values its friendship with Israel and remains ready to cooperate on practical projects that can benefit both countries.
“Our partnership is based on shared values and mutual respect, and we look forward to strengthening it in areas that directly impact the lives of our people,” the Minister stated.
Discussions reportedly included the possibility of knowledge transfer in agricultural technology and small scale industry development, areas where Israel has experience and South Sudan seeks progress.
South Sudan and Israel established full diplomatic relations in 2011 shortly after the former gained independence. Since then, diplomatic ties have gradually expanded, with both countries expressing interest in cooperation in areas such as water management, health, and education.
