
South Sudan Expands Diplomatic Outreach to Israel/PHOTO: Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan
(JERUSALEM) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba, has delivered official messages from President Salva Kiir Mayardit to Israel’s top leadership during a diplomatic visit to Jerusalem.
The minister held separate high level meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 31 July 2025. The official communications from President Kiir were delivered in person as part of efforts to boost relations between Juba and Jerusalem.
Ambassador Monday was joined by a senior delegation from South Sudan, including Ambassador Sitona Abdallah, the Director General of International Cooperation and Ambassador Dak Solomon Amum, who serves as South Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires to Israel. Also present was the Israeli Ambassador to South Sudan, Garshon Kedar, along with other key officials from the South Sudanese Embassy in Israel.
The discussions reaffirmed South Sudan’s interest in strengthening diplomatic and developmental cooperation with Israel, a country that has historically maintained a supportive relationship with Juba.
The talks focused on deepening bilateral relations in areas such as agriculture, technology, security and economic development.
