(JUBA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan has firmly denied recent media reports claiming the government is in talks with Israel over the resettlement of Palestinian nationals from Gaza to South Sudan.
In a statement issued on 13 August 2025, the ministry described the claims as “baseless” and said they do not reflect the official policy or position of the Government of the Republic of South Sudan.
The denial comes after a series of regional and international media reports suggested that Juba was engaged in discussions with the State of Israel on relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Such reports have circulated widely in recent days, prompting public debate both domestically and abroad.
The ministry stressed that South Sudan has not entered into any agreement or negotiation on the matter and reiterated that decisions on foreign nationals, particularly in contexts of conflict, would only be made through official and transparent government processes.
Officials called on all media organisations to exercise diligence by verifying information through recognised government channels before publishing, noting that unverified reports risk fuelling unnecessary speculation and diplomatic misunderstanding.
