(JUBA) – The leadership of the Nuer Leadership Peace Forum met with the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, on Wednesday to discuss issues affecting the Nuer community in the State.
The delegation led by Hon. Gen. James Hotmai congratulated the Governor on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership. They raised concerns about the situation of Nuer internally displaced persons living in Juba, particularly the need for land to help them resettle and achieve stability.
Dr. Gabriel Gai Riam, who represented the Forum, called for stronger dialogue between the Nuer and other communities in Central Equatoria. He said that open discussions and inclusive engagement would help to build peaceful coexistence.
“The dialogue will contribute to harmony within the city,” Hon. Hotmai explained during the meeting.
Mujung thanked the Forum for the visit and acknowledged the challenges outlined. He assured the delegation that his office is committed to working with all communities in Central Equatoria to address concerns in a fair and collaborative way.
Community resettlement and access to land remain sensitive issues in Juba, with competing claims often leading to disputes. The Governor emphasised that peace and cooperation were essential to finding lasting solutions.
