(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State Mujung Emmanuel arrived in Terekeka on Tuesday to launch a three day peace symposium organised by the State government.
The event is being held at the county headquarters and brings together a wide range of participants including community elders, political leaders, youth groups, women representatives, religious leaders and development partners.
The gathering aims to provide an open platform for dialogue on issues affecting the county and the wider state.
Discussions are expected to address divisions among intellectuals and elites, disputes over land ownership and the responsibilities of both political and community leaders in maintaining peace.
According to state government press, the forum is designed to strengthen efforts towards reconciliation and to build understanding among different groups. B
Mujung, who presided over the opening, said the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting peace, unity and security across Central Equatoria.
According to a statement from the governor’s office, participants are also expected to explore ways of involving youth and women in conflict resolution and community leadership.
Religious leaders and civil society representatives will further contribute ideas on promoting tolerance and social cohesion.
The peace forum is scheduled to end on Friday.
