(YEI COUNTY) – The Yei Football Association confirmed that the Second Edition of the South Sudan Premier League officially kicked off on 14 September at Juba National Stadium.
As part of its preparations for the new season, the association carried out repairs and improvements to the goalposts at Yei Freedom Square.
YFA Officials said the work was aimed at providing a better matchday experience for both players and fans, while also ensuring that the pitch met the standards required for competitive football.
In the opening fixture, Lion Hunters SC of Yei, representing the Yei Football Association, faced El Merriekh SC from Bentiu. The association extended best wishes to the Lion Hunters team ahead of the match, praising their dedication and commitment.
The Yei Football Association also urged all fans and supporters from Yei who live in Juba to attend in large numbers and cheer for the team. It said the encouragement of fans would give the players strength and motivation.
The County Football Association further stated that football continues to play an important role in uniting communities, inspiring young people and promoting peace.
They reaffirmed their commitment to improving facilities, supporting grassroots football and giving local players opportunities to succeed at both county and national level.
