Yei River County Executive Council Introduces Weekly Meetings

(YEI RIVER COUNTY)— Authorities in Yei River County have introduced weekly executive meetings to improve coordination among government departments and address challenges affecting service delivery and development.

The decision was reached during a Council Executive meeting held Thursday and attended by heads of key county departments, including education, agriculture, cooperatives, health, gender and social welfare, housing and physical infrastructure, planning and peacebuilding, and water and sanitation.

Speaking during the meeting, Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo said the council will meet every Thursday to review departmental challenges, assess progress and agree on practical solutions.

He said bringing all departments together regularly allows them to identify challenges in each sector and find practical solutions through coordinated action.

Mr. Malimbo said the regular meetings would provide department heads with an opportunity to present progress reports, raise urgent concerns and coordinate actions around the county’s development priorities.

This comes as Yei River County continues to face challenges in delivering basic services and implementing development activities.

The council also discussed administrative procedures, including how to handle and authorise official documents properly, with members of the council emphasizing that documents intended for official use must follow established procedures.

The meeting also addressed land documents issued by UNHCR through the county’s housing department, with authorities calling for proper documentation and provision of copies to the beneficiaries concerned.

The commissioner further directed departments to ensure that development activities comply with established procedures, particularly in construction and building projects.

He said relevant authorities must ensure that developers obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the appropriate county departments before construction begins.

The commissioner said adherence to administrative and legal procedures was essential to ensuring orderly development and preventing disputes.

The council is expected to continue using the Thursday meetings to review departmental performance, identify gaps and agree on actions to address the needs of residents.
