(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Department heads in Yei River County will now meet every Thursday to address service delivery, development and public welfare challenges affecting the area. The decision was reached during a Council Executive meeting held on today Thursday 3rd September 2026.
The meeting brought together senior officials from Education, Agriculture, Cooperatives, Health, Gender and Social Welfare, Housing and Physical Infrastructure, Planning and Peace Building, Water and Sanitation, as well as members of the county executive body.
The weekly meetings are expected to provide a platform for departmental heads to present progress reports, raise urgent concerns and agree on actions aimed at advancing development priorities across Yei River County.
Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, said the council agreed to hold regular executive meetings every Thursday to strengthen coordination, address emerging challenges and improve the delivery of services to the population.
Malimbo stressed the importance of bringing all departments together to identify challenges within their respective sectors and find practical solutions through coordinated action.
The meeting also discussed administrative procedures and the need for proper handling of official documents and legal matters. Authorities said documents required for official purposes should follow the appropriate procedures, including proper authorisation and, where necessary, photocopying for concerned beneficiaries who were given land documents by UNHCR from the Housing department.
The Commissioner further called for adherence to established procedures in matters related to development activities, including building and construction, where the relevant authorities are expected to ensure that permits and approvals are obtained through the appropriate county departments.
The Press Unit of the Office of the Commissioner in Yei River County confirmed the meeting in a statement issued by Press Secretary James Innocent.
