(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Construction of Kanjoro Bridge is nearing completion, paving the way for planned road repairs in Yei River County town. County officials inspected the site this week as the project enters its final stages.
The bridge connects communities and is expected to improve movement for people and goods once opened. Authorities say the completion will allow the county to shift attention to repairing roads within the town.
Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo and Lainya County Commissioner Huda Laila Michael visited the site to assess the progress of the work.
Commissioner Malimbo said road rehabilitation will begin after the bridge is handed over. He said the repairs are meant to ease movement, boost local trade and improve access to services.
The road works will focus on key routes within Yei River County town. Officials have not yet announced the cost of the planned rehabilitation or the date when the bridge will open to traffic.
Local residents have long called for better roads and bridges to connect markets and health facilities. The new bridge is seen as a major step towards meeting those demands.
The Press Unit of the Office of the Commissioner in Yei River County confirmed the inspection in a statement issued on 3 September 2026.
The statement was released by Press Secretary James Innocent.
