Wuluturu Residents Celebrate Completion of Bridge Construction Project

Community members praised both the outgoing Commissioner, Emmanuel Taban Seme and the current Commissioner, Samuel Henry Malimbo, for their coordination and financial support in delivering the project, which addresses a critical community need. Raida Yangi, a mother of three, said the newly completed bridge has significantly eased the hardships faced by women, children and patients in the area.

“We are happy because this bridge issue has finally been addressed. Now we can access Yei Town market, our children can attend school in town, and we can go to the hospital without challenges. I want to thank the commissioners of Yei River County, especially Seme and Malimbo, for this good work,” she said.

Another resident, Isaac Taban also commended the county government for prioritizing infrastructure development.

“As citizens, we want good roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, markets, security and electricity from the government. We don’t need food aid but we need services that benefit the community at large,” he emphasized.

Boda-boda rider Dada Morrish noted that the improved bridge will ease transport for both riders and farmers, boosting local trade and mobility.

“We are very happy because this bridge is finally completed. It will help us as boda-boda riders to access Wuluturu without difficulty. It will also allow farmers to transport their produce to town for business,” he said.

Previously, Richard Lugala Godo, Director for Physical Infrastructure in Yei River County, told Access Radio that the local government was committed to completing the bridge to improve mobility, access to social services, security and agricultural production in the area. The completion of the Wuluturu bridge is expected to enhance connectivity and improve livelihoods for residents across the region.
