Kanjoro-New Site Bridge Set for Reopening Next Week

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Kanjoro-New Site Bridge is set to reopen to the public in the first week of October after the completion of its construction, according to the committee overseeing the project.

Residents have welcomed the development, saying the bridge will improve movement, trade and access between communities in Yei River County and neighboring areas.

The project was implemented through a partnership between the Kanjoro community, the Yei River County local government and Point Investment Company, a national firm contracted to undertake the construction.

Speaking during an inspection visit on Wednesday, former Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo commended the community, the construction company, and all stakeholders who contributed to the project. He said the completed bridge would boost development, enhance security and facilitate trade in the area.

Earlier, ECSS Bishop Emeritus Hillary Adeba praised the Kanjoro community and the county government for their support of the project, noting that improved infrastructure would ease movement between Yei Town and surrounding villages.

In a related development, Malimbo said the county government would continue road rehabilitation efforts across Yei Town. He noted that maintenance work has already commenced along Maridi Road, where potholes are being repaired to improve road safety and ease transportation for residents.

The reopening of the bridge is expected to restore a key transport link and support economic activities in the growing communities around Yei.
