Yei Launches $58,000 Kanjoro Bridge Project to Improve Safety and Connectivity

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -Yei River County Government has officially launched the construction of the Kanjoro Bridge, a project expected to cost 58,000 US dollars and significantly improve transport and safety for residents.

Speaking during the launch on Wednesday, Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo praised the community for taking the initiative to rebuild the bridge despite the high cost involved. He revealed that the county government had reached an agreement with a construction company to execute the project at a cost of 58,000 dollars.

Engineer Anthony from Point Investment Construction Company assured residents that work will begin immediately, with the bridge expected to be completed within 45 days. He called on all stakeholders to cooperate to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Emeritus Bishop of Yei Anglican Church, Hillary Luate, welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step towards improving service delivery and fostering unity among communities. He encouraged leaders to focus on tangible development projects that directly benefit citizens.

The Chairperson of the Bridge Construction Committee, Johnson Poru, urged residents to continue supporting the project through financial and material contributions and called on those who made pledges to honour their commitments.

The Kanjoro Bridge, located between Lomuku One and Kanjoro along the road leading to New Site, has remained in a deteriorated condition for several years, posing serious risks to pedestrians, motorists and motorcycle riders.

Residents say the project will bring safer movement and improved connectivity for communities in Yei Town Payam.
