(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo has launched road rehabilitation works in Yei Town, a move aimed at improving transportation and easing movement for residents, traders and other road users.
The rehabilitation works commenced along the Yei–Maridi Road, with Point Investment Company supporting the initiative through road maintenance activities. Commissioner Malimbo commended the company for its contribution, noting that improved road infrastructure is essential for facilitating the movement of people, goods and services across the county.
The initiative comes in response to growing calls from communities for better roads to support trade, access to basic services and economic development. Residents have welcomed the rehabilitation works, describing them as a positive step toward addressing longstanding transport challenges in the area.
Meanwhile, Emeritus Bishop Hillary Adeba of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) Diocese praised both Point Investment Company and the county administration for investing in road improvements. He said better roads would enhance safety, reduce road accidents and contribute to the well-being of communities.
The county administration has continued to prioritise infrastructure development alongside peacebuilding, security and the delivery of essential services as part of efforts to improve the quality of life for residents across Yei River County.
