Yei County Set to Construct Two New Bridges After Public Outcry

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo has announced plans to construct two new bridges at Sobe Stream and Wuluturu Stream as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and road connectivity across the county.

The move follows extensive reporting by Access Radio on the deteriorating condition of the Sobe and Wuluturu roads, where bridges and culverts were washed away by heavy rainfall, disrupting transport and access for residents in and around Yei Town.

Speaking to journalists on Friday during an inspection of the nearly completed Kanjoro Bridge, Commissioner Malimbo said the county government is already looking beyond the current project, identifying the Sobe and Wuluturu bridges as key priorities for future development.

The commissioner noted that the planned bridge projects will enhance the movement of people, goods and services, while improving access to communities and essential services. He emphasized that infrastructure development remains central to the county administration’s efforts to support economic growth and connectivity.

During the visit, Malimbo assessed progress on the Kanjoro Bridge and reaffirmed the county’s commitment to monitoring ongoing development projects and addressing critical infrastructure needs across Yei River County. The proposed bridges are expected to further strengthen transport links within the county and improve access for residents and businesses.
