The incident reportedly occurred on 23 October in the Kinji Street area, near a football ground.
Rejoice Keji Angilo, an aunt of the deceased, says her nephew was allegedly beaten by three men before being taken to a health facility, where he later died.
She says the family is grieving and wants the circumstances surrounding his death fully established.
Yei River County Police Inspector Major General Lujang Kamba confirmed to Access Radio the arrest of three suspects in connection with the incident on Monday Morning.
Lujang identified three suspects between the age of 21 and 22 years respectively
According to Lujang, police are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to establish what happened and determine individual responsibility.
“Once the investigation is complete, the case will be taken to court,” he said.
Lujang also warned young people against joining gangs or engaging in criminal activities.
“We are warning young people against joining gangs and engaging in criminal activities. Those suspected of involvement will be identified and investigated.”
He called on parents, community leaders and other authorities to work closely with police to prevent youth violence.
Meanwhile, David Lodongo Peter, Sub-Chief of Rumoju Sub-Boma, condemned the alleged assault and urged residents to remain calm while police investigations continue.
Lodongo appealed to community members not to take the law into their own hands, saying suspects should be handled through the proper legal process.
He also encouraged parents to guide young people away from violence and urged residents to report suspected criminal activity to the authorities.
Police say investigations are continuing, and the case is expected to proceed through the legal system once the investigation is completed.
The three suspects remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a competent court of law.
