Morobo Commissioner Urges Youth to Promote Peace Through Sports

(MOROBO COUNTY) – The Caretaker Commissioner of Morobo County, Moro Isaac Johnson, has called on young people and sportsmen to use sporting activities to promote peace, reconciliation and unity across the county.

Morobo County has been severely affected by years of conflict and insecurity, particularly since the outbreak of renewed fighting in 2016.

Commissioner Johnson made the appeal on Sunday evening at the end of a friendly football match between government officials and teachers from Light of Christ in Morobo Centre.

He said sporting activities can bring communities together and help strengthen peaceful coexistence among people from different backgrounds.

“Sports allow us to come together, regardless of our backgrounds, to celebrate our shared identity as people of Morobo and South Sudanese.”

Johnson also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting sporting activities in the county, including the upcoming Commissioner’s Football Tournament.
