(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -The Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon. Samuel Henry Malimbo, has called on young people to embrace unity, responsibility and cultural preservation as key pillars for community development.
Speaking during a meeting with youth leaders, artists and sports representatives on Friday, Hon. Malimbo encouraged the county’s youth to remain committed to serving their communities. He urged musicians to use their platforms to promote positive messages and reflect local cultural values, rather than adopting foreign influences that may undermine societal norms.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to supporting youth initiatives, particularly in music and sports, noting their role in fostering unity and social cohesion.
Youth and sports leaders welcomed the Commissioner’s message, highlighting the abundance of untapped talent in Yei and ongoing efforts to promote football development, including plans to participate in the national league.
They also noted existing challenges facing youth groups, which are expected to be presented to county authorities ahead of an upcoming youth convention in Juba.
Officials from the youth, culture and sports sector expressed confidence that strengthened collaboration with the county leadership will enhance youth empowerment and contribute to peace and stability in Yei River County.
