(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon. Samuel Henry Malimbo, has reiterated that sustainable development cannot be achieved without lasting peace and stability in the area.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement in Yei ON Thursday, Hon. Malimbo emphasized that peace remains the foundation for meaningful progress, noting that persistent insecurity continues to hinder service delivery and economic growth.
The Commissioner underscored that restoring and maintaining peace across Yei River County is his administration’s top priority. He called on citizens, community leaders, and stakeholders to work collectively to promote unity, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
He further stressed that achieving lasting stability requires a shared commitment, urging communities to actively support government efforts aimed at fostering peace and development.
Earlier, during an Area Reference Group meeting in Yei, partners raised concerns over challenges affecting their operations, particularly the increasing cases of staff kidnappings. They noted that these incidents are undermining humanitarian efforts and limiting access to essential services for vulnerable communities.
Despite these challenges, residents of Yei River County have welcomed the Commissioner’s call for peace, expressing optimism that improved security will create a conducive environment for development and enhanced service delivery.
