(MOROBO / YEI / LAINYA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State has urged the commissioners of Morobo, Yei River, and Lainya counties to restore peace, security, and stability in their respective areas.
Over the past several months, residents in Yei, Morobo, and Lainya counties have repeatedly complained about recurring incidents of human rights violations, including abductions, robberies, killings, nighttime attacks, looting, and cattle raiding.
However, speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of new state and county officials at the State Secretariat on Monday, Governor Emmanuel Adil said the security challenges affecting local communities in the three counties must come to an end.
In his message to the Commissioner of Morobo County, Governor Adil emphasized the need to restore peace and stability in the area.
“Commissioner of Morobo, your primary job is to ensure security returns to Morobo. Morobo used to be the most secure county and peaceful so those gains must come back and unite the three communities, let them unite and see themselves together in Morobo.”
Meanwhile, addressing the Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Malimo Batali, Governor Adil called for the restoration of security in both urban and rural areas, urging authorities to crack down on criminal gangs and remove roadblocks in the county.
“Commissioner of Yei, you too have a job to restore security both in the town and the rural areas. In our last security reports, gangs have developed in Yei, and we want you to go to Yei and deal with them, crack down on those gangs and restore security so that people can start business in the rural areas. I have also directed all roadblocks to be removed for all of you, the commissioners of greater Yei, because we want our civilians to be happy.”
The Governor also called on the Commissioner of Lainya County, Huda Michael Laila, to strengthen security in order to allow residents to farm and conduct business freely.
“Commissioner of Lainya, you too must restore security, allow our people to move so that they can cultivate and produce food. Lainya is at the center of our state and a very strategic county for security coordination.”
Governor Adil reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and stability across the three counties to ensure civilians can live and work safely.
