President Kiir Leads South Sudan in Martyrs’ Day Tribute, Pledges Improved Service Delivery

(JUBA)– President Salva Kiir Mayardit has led South Sudan in commemorating Martyrs’ Day, honouring the sacrifices of the men and women who fought for the country’s freedom, justice, and independence.

Speaking during a solemn national ceremony in Juba on Thursday, President Kiir joined citizens, government officials, members of the security services, diplomats, and veterans in paying tribute to the nation’s heroes and heroines.

The annual commemoration was held in memory of the Founding Leader of South Sudan, Dr. John Garang de Mabior and all those who lost their lives during the struggle that led to the country’s independence.

During the event, President Kiir renewed his commitment to improving service delivery across the country, emphasising the need to honour the legacy of the fallen heroes through dedicated service to the people.

The ceremony brought together representatives from different sectors of society in a show of national unity and reflection on the sacrifices that shaped the Republic of South Sudan.

Martyrs’ Day is observed each year to remember and celebrate the courage and dedication of those who gave their lives in pursuit of a free and independent South Sudan.
