UNDP Funded Access to Justice Project Launched in Morobo County

(MOROBO COUNTY) – A new Access to Justice Project has been launched in Morobo County, Central Equatoria State, aimed at improving access to justice for local communities, particularly women, children and young people.

The project will operate through Gender-Based Violence and Juvenile Courts and is funded by the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, and implemented by the Farm Community Organization, FCO.

The pilot initiative targets communities and secondary schools in Morobo, Yei and Lainya counties.

Speaking during the launch on Tuesday, FCO Psychosocial Support Officer Raymond Duduka thanked stakeholders for attending and outlined the project’s objectives, target groups and duration.

Duduka emphasised the importance of community involvement in ensuring the project’s success.

Meanwhile, Morobo County Caretaker Commissioner Moro Isaac Johnson said the initiative should help strengthen legal protection and expand judicial services for communities in the county.

Commissioner Johnson welcomed FCO’s expansion into Morobo and commended the organisation for promoting gender representation in its recruitment.

He urged the implementing organisation to intensify community awareness activities to ensure the project reaches and benefits its intended communities.

The launch brought together representatives from government departments, youth and women’s groups, as well as local chiefs.
