(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has reassured residents of Central Equatoria State that the government is committed to resolving ongoing border issues with neighboring Uganda through peaceful dialogue.
Speaking in Juba on Wednesday, President Kiir called on communities to remain calm and allow the government to address the matter through established diplomatic channels.
The President made the remarks after receiving resolutions from the recent South Sudan-Uganda cross-border meeting, presented by Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.
According to a press Statement published by the Presidential Press Unit, President Kiir reiterated his administration’s commitment to finding a lasting solution to the border concerns while maintaining peaceful relations between the two countries.
The government says continued engagement with Uganda will help address outstanding issues and promote stability and cooperation along the shared border.
