South Sudan and Uganda Pledge Stronger Joint Action to Tackle Border Challenges

(ARUA CITY, UGANDA)- South Sudan and Uganda have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening peace, security, and cooperation along their shared border, as delegates from both countries continued bilateral discussions in Arua City, Uganda.

The second day of the Cross-Border Peace and Security Coordination Meeting, held on Friday, 24th July 2026, focused on the presentation, discussion and adoption of a joint report and communiqué aimed at addressing recurring border-related challenges affecting communities in both countries.

Delegations from South Sudan and Uganda pledged to establish Joint Working Committees that will develop proactive and long-term solutions to issues along their common border.

Officials attending the meeting expressed optimism that the discussions will lead to positive outcomes, including improved security cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and stronger relations between border communities.

The adoption and signing of the joint report and communiqué were expected later in the evening, marking another step in efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.
