Lainya Youth Repair Bad Juba-Yei Road Sections

(LAINYA COUNTY) Residents and travelers along the Lainya-Juba-Yei road say worsening road conditions are disrupting the movement of people and goods along the major highway.

Residents blame heavy rains and poor drainage for deep potholes and erosion that have made some sections difficult for vehicles, including humanitarian supply trucks.

In response, youth volunteers in Lainya County have mobilized timber and handheld tools to clear blocked drainage channels, fill dangerous potholes and clear thick roadside grass.

Residents say the community initiative is providing temporary relief and improving access to markets and health facilities for communities in Lainya and neighboring Yei River County.

Lainya County Caretaker Commissioner Laku Micah Wani visited one of the badly affected sections at Logwili Boma and commended the youth and community members for taking action to improve the road.

The road has reportedly deteriorated over recent months, affecting commercial traffic and access between Lainya, Juba and Yei.
