(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Leaders in Yei River County have taken a major step toward addressing long-standing flood-related accidents in Kanjoro, as plans for a new bridge gain momentum.
Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo on Monday led officials and engineers from Point Investment to inspect the proposed construction site. He called for a detailed technical plan, emphasizing that the bridge will be a joint effort between the government and the community.
The project aims to replace a dangerous crossing that has posed risks to residents especially schoolchildren during the rainy season.
Engineers have pledged support, noting the bridge will improve safety, transport and local economic activity, while also creating job opportunities for residents.
Local leaders and community members say the long-awaited bridge will significantly ease movement and enhance development across Yei River County once completed.
