(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The construction of the long-awaited Kanjoro Bridge in Yei River County is expected to begin this Saturday, according to local community leaders.
The Kanjoro Bridge Construction Committee met with Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo Monday morning to provide an update on resource mobilization efforts and preparations at the construction site.
Committee Chairperson Johnson Poru Hillary said the team is continuing to engage individuals and organisations that pledged support during previous fundraising campaigns.
Emeritus Bishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Hillary Adeba, commended the county administration for backing the community-led project and praised Point Investment Engineering Department for its commitment to infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo applauded the committee’s teamwork and dedication, urging members to maintain close coordination as they mobilise the remaining resources needed to commence construction. He noted that some building materials have already been delivered to the site.
Community leaders have welcomed the project as a major step towards improving connectivity, boosting local trade and strengthening access to services for thousands of residents in the area.
