CES Care Taker Governor Jadalla Calls for Unity Ahead of Elections

(JUBA) – Central Equatoria State Caretaker Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani has called for unity and collective action as the state prepares for South Sudan’s anticipated general elections in December 2026.

Speaking during a grand reception held at the State Secretariat in Juba on Wednesday, Jadalla pledged to work with all communities and stakeholders across the state to promote peace, stability, and development during the transitional period.

The caretaker governor expressed gratitude to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for entrusting him with the leadership of the state at what he described as a critical moment in the country’s political journey.

Jadalla said he would closely work with technocrats across government institutions following the dissolution of state ministers, advisers, and Members of Parliament to ensure continuity in public service delivery and administration ahead of the elections.

“I didn’t come to work with groups or certain people; I came to work with everyone and to ensure that the main agenda is unity for development in Central Equatoria State,” Jadalla told the gathering.

He urged former constitutional office holders and political leaders to continue cooperating in the interest of peace and stability, emphasizing that unity remains key to the state’s progress.

SPLM Second Deputy Chairperson Mary Apayi Ayiga echoed the governor’s message, calling on politicians and communities to work together as the country moves toward its first democratic elections.

Meanwhile, former Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony appealed to residents to support the caretaker governor during the transition period. He also commended President Kiir’s leadership in guiding the country toward the upcoming elections.

Former government officials attending the event welcomed the dissolution of the Transitional Government and pledged their support for a peaceful and orderly electoral transition in the state.

The reception marked Jadalla’s first major public engagement since assuming the caretaker governorship, with leaders using the occasion to underscore the importance of unity and cooperation ahead of the national polls.
