(JUBA, CENTRAL EQUATORIA) – The Caretaker Governor of Central Equatoria State, Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, has pledged to work with all people in the state to achieve unity, development and stability as South Sudan prepares for elections in December.

Jadalla made the commitment as he received a grand reception at the State Secretariat General in Juba on Wednesday.

The caretaker governor thanked President Salva Kiir Mayardit for the opportunity to lead the state at what he described as a critical moment as the country heads for elections in December 2026.

He said he would work with technocrats in various ministries following the dissolution of state ministers, advisors and Members of Parliament to ensure smooth governance and administration of state affairs in the run-up to the elections.

Jadalla called for unity and urged all former constitutional post holders to uphold cooperation:

“I didn’t come to work with groups or certain people; I came to work with everyone and to ensure that the main agenda is unity for development in Central Equatoria State.”

SPLM Second Deputy Chairperson Mary Apayi Ayiga also called for unity and cooperation among all politicians in the state.

The immediate former Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, called on all people to support the caretaker governor during this period as the elections draw near. He also commended President Kiir for his leadership in steering the nation toward its first democratic elections in December.

Former government officials at the event welcomed the dissolution of the Transitional Government and expressed support for the caretaker governor, restating their commitment to a peaceful electoral transition.

Separately, citizens gathered at Governor Jadalla’s residence on Thursday to celebrate his appointment by President Kiir as caretaker governor of Central Equatoria State.

Breaking into songs and dances, the citizens, community leaders and notable political figures from across the political spectrum celebrated the appointment, with all thanking President Kiir for the opportunity to serve the people of the state during the political transition.
