Central Bank Denies Recruitment Allegations

(JUBA, CENTRAL EQUATORIA) – The Bank of South Sudan has rejected allegations circulating on social media about the conduct of its management, calling them false, baseless and without evidence.

The central bank said in a statement published on 26th September 2026 that the claims do not represent its policies, practices, decisions or institutional conduct.

It said a tabloid published misleading accusations earlier in the day about managerial procedures regarding recruitment norms followed by the bank .

The specific recruitment allegations themselves were not detailed in the bank’s statement, which did not repeat or describe the claims beyond referring to them as misleading accusations about managerial procedures regarding recruitment norms .

The bank said the deliberate creation and circulation of false information is a serious matter.

It said unverified and fabricated claims can mislead the public, damage the reputation of individuals and institutions, undermine public confidence and create unnecessary tension.

The public has been urged not to accept, share or spread unverified claims as facts.

The bank said information about it should be obtained from official bank channels or other credible and verifiable sources.

It said it remains committed to performing its responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, fairness and strict adherence to the laws, policies and institutional procedures governing the Bank of South Sudan.

It said truth requires evidence and public information entails responsibility, adding that the bank remains committed to both.

The statement follows a similar denial by the central bank in June this year, when it rejected claims that the governor had said rats destroyed 3 trillion South Sudanese pounds in storage facilities . The bank described that allegation as entirely baseless and fabricated, and warned that such misinformation was intended to weaken public confidence in the country’s financial system .

The bank has repeatedly urged the public, media houses and social media users to rely on official channels for information and to avoid sharing content that distorts facts.
