Forest Ban Holding Firm, Kajo-Keji Insists
(KAJO-KEJI) – The Office of the Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County has firmly denied recent media claims suggesting that illegal logging is continuing in the area despite the county wide ban issued earlier this month.
In a press statement issued on 20 July 2025, the county administration described as false and misleading a report published by Access Radio on Sunday, which alleged that logging activities were ongoing in defiance of the official order.
The Commissioner’s office clarified that a comprehensive ban on forest logging was officially enacted on 16 July 2025 and that the county government has since activated a transparent monitoring and enforcement mechanism involving local authorities and organised forces to ensure full compliance.
According to the statement, findings from a joint taskforce, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, confirmed that no incidents of illegal logging had been recorded since the enforcement of the ban. Authorities reported that all known logging routes and access points had been secured and that regular patrols were being conducted across the county to prevent violations.

The county administration urged Access Radio and all other media outlets to verify information with the appropriate authorities before broadcasting what it described as “unsubstantiated claims” that may distort public perception and damage the image of the local government.
“The Office of the Commissioner strongly refutes and condemns the inaccurate and misleading claims… These claims are false, baseless and do not reflect the current realities on the ground,” the statement read.
The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to environmental protection, lawful governance and transparency. The statement also called for constructive engagement from the media, civil society and the general public to support joint efforts in promoting accountability and sustainable development in the county.
For further clarification or to access verified updates, the county government invited both media professionals and citizens to contact the Office of the Commissioner directly.
