Central Equatoria Cabinet Approves SSP108.2 Billion Budget

(JUBA)—Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers has approved a proposed budget of SSP108.2 billion for the 2026/2027 financial year, marking a sharp increase from the SSP72.3 billion budget for the previous fiscal year.

The approval came during an extraordinary Council of Ministers sitting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Wednesday, where the Council reviewed a memorandum presented by the State Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment covering the Draft Budget, Draft Appropriation Bill and Draft Financial Bill for the 2026/2027 financial year.

Following deliberations, ministers approved the proposal with amendments, setting the total resource envelope at SSP108.2 billion. The new budget represents an increase of SSP35.9 billion from the previous year.

The approval of this huge proposed budget comes as Central Equatoria faces growing demands for public services, infrastructure, security and administrative costs.

However, the statement from the office of the governor did not provide a detailed breakdown of how the SSP108.2 billion would be distributed among salaries, infrastructure, health, education, security and other sectors.

The SSP108.2 billion proposal will now have to proceed through the state’s legislative process before it becomes the legal spending framework for the 2026/2027 financial year.

Governor Adil used the meeting to urge government officials and citizens to protect peace, civilians and public property as the country moves toward elections.

He called on constitutional post-holders, civil servants and citizens to prioritize stability and safeguard government assets, saying public resources should be preserved for present and future generations.

The Council also received a security report from the Deputy Governor, which indicated that the security situation across Central Equatoria had remained generally calm over the previous three months, with isolated incidents contained by authorities.

The state government said the improved security environment was the result of coordinated efforts by security institutions and state security committees.
