(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received a detailed briefing from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Monday Semaya Kumba, following the minister’s recent diplomatic visits to the United States and Ethiopia.
The briefing, delivered on Tuesday in Juba, covered key discussions held with senior officials in both Washington and Addis Ababa. The engagements focused on strengthening South Sudan’s diplomatic and development relations with the two countries.
According to a statement from the Office of the President, President Kiir welcomed the outcome of the visits and instructed that follow up actions be taken to ensure continued cooperation. He noted the importance of sustaining momentum to advance mutual interests in peace, economic development and regional security.
Minister Kumba, speaking to the media after the meeting, said the diplomatic trips were part of South Sudan’s wider strategy to reposition itself as a committed partner in regional stability and global engagement.
He said talks in the United States centred on support for development assistance, while discussions in Ethiopia addressed shared concerns over cross border peace and cooperation within the Horn of Africa.
Kiir commended the Ministry for its diplomatic outreach and reaffirmed South Sudan’s interest in building constructive ties with key global and regional partners.
The government has signalled its readiness to deepen engagement with traditional allies while exploring new areas for international collaboration.
The Office of the President did not disclose any signed agreements or financial commitments resulting from the visits.
