(YEI) – International and national organisations, along with local government authorities in Yei River County, held a one day Annual Review and Planning meeting to improve coordination and service delivery in the county.
The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, humanitarian agencies, national NGOs and government representatives, with a shared aim of boosting the wellbeing of local communities through better cooperation and more focused interventions.
Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon. Emmanuel Taban Seme, called on international partners and NGOs to increase their support for the county, stressing that the local administration was committed to improving the lives of its citizens.
“The government is ready and committed to creating an enabling environment that improves lives,” said Commissioner Taban.
He added that the general security situation in the county remained calm and manageable, with authorities working to maintain stability and protect residents.
The meeting was welcomed by partners like Finn Church Aid (FCA), who described the session as an important moment for collaboration. FCA’s representative in Yei, Slash Moses, said the presence of donors and implementing agencies at the same table was a sign of serious commitment to development in the area.
“This meeting was indeed fruitful because it involved all our donors, and together we are determined to improve services in the county by working as a unified force,” Moses noted.
Throughout the day, various organisations shared updates on the achievements they had made in Yei River County. These included essential services such as health, education, water and sanitation, as well as capacity building trainings aimed at strengthening the ability of local communities to support themselves.
The meeting also gave space for participants to reflect on challenges and explore areas where more support or coordination was needed to make services more efficient and impactful. Many underlined the importance of continued dialogue between the government and partners to ensure that assistance meets the actual needs of the people.
While the meeting did not result in immediate financial pledges, it laid the groundwork for improved working relationships between the authorities and humanitarian actors operating in Yei.
