
Terekeka Cultural Festival Runs Three Days of Activities/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press
(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – Terekeka County is hosting the 3rd Annual Mundari Cultural Festival under the theme “Celebrating Mundari Culture to Promote Peaceful Coexistence in South Sudan.” The festival’s slogan, “yi a Mundari, yi a ringit nu jur” or “we are Mundari, we are the strength of our country,” reflects unity, cultural pride, social cohesion and peaceful coexistence among South Sudan’s diverse communities.
The three day festival, held at the Terekeka Cultural Centre, features traditional music, dance, wrestling, storytelling, and local food. The event has attracted prominent government leaders, including Vice President H.E. Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior, Presidential Envoy on Special Programmes Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, Minister of Culture, Museum and National Heritage Hon. Nadia Arop, Minister of Wildlife and Conservation Hon. Denay Chagor, and Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony. State ministers, MPs, senior officials, and other politicians also attended the celebration.
Vice President Nyandeng delivered the President’s message to participants, urging communities across South Sudan to embrace peace, love, and reconciliation as the foundation for nation building. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to conducting timely elections while promoting unity across the country.
Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony congratulated the organisers for holding an event that strengthens social cohesion and encourages peaceful coexistence. He also urged residents to continue practising peaceful cultural traditions and to prepare for large-scale agriculture in the upcoming farming season to support food security and economic growth.
The Commissioner of Terekeka County described the festival as a celebration of a “new Mundari,” highlighting the community’s evolving role in promoting unity, cultural pride, and development in the state.
The County Press Unit said the festival aims to connect communities, celebrate South Sudan’s cultural diversity, and encourage citizens to participate actively in the nation’s social and economic development.
