(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – South Sudan’s Vice President, H.E. Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior, and Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, joined the Mundari community at the 3rd Annual Mundari Cultural Festival in Terekeka County. The event celebrated cultural diversity and promoted social cohesion among the nation’s communities.
Vice President Nyandeng, reading a message from the President, urged all communities to embrace peace, love, and reconciliation as a path to nation building. She highlighted the government’s commitment to holding timely elections while fostering unity across the country.
Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony congratulated the festival organisers for their efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and social cohesion. He encouraged residents of Central Equatoria State to practice peaceful cultural traditions and to focus on agriculture during the upcoming farming season, aiming for sustainable food security and economic growth.
Hon. Josephine Napwon, former Minister of Environment and Forestry and current National Parliamentarian, addressed the youth, urging them to use the festival as a platform to encourage intermarriage and development activities that support national progress.
The festival brought together a variety of South Sudanese communities, including the Shilluk, Nuer, Toposa, Kuku, Kakwa, Bari, and others, highlighting the country’s cultural diversity.
Several senior government officials attended the festival, including Hon. Adut Salva Kiir, Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, Hon. Denay Chagor, Minister of Wildlife and Conservation, Hon. Nadia Arop, Minister of Culture, Museum and National Heritage, Hon. Augustino Jadalla, former Governor of Central Equatoria State, and Hon. Juma Ali Malou, National MP and former Governor of Central Equatoria State.
The festival, which continues until Sunday, features cultural dances, community discussions, and tours of historical sites in Terekeka County. Organisers said the event aims to strengthen ties between communities and promote unity, development, and peace across South Sudan.
