
Deputy Governor Addresses Bari Cultural Union Event in Juba/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press Unit
(JUBA COUNTY) – The Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, Paulino Lukudu Obede, has called on communities to remain united and resist political influence that could threaten peace and harmony in South Sudan.
He made the remarks on Saturday 24th January 2026 while addressing members of the Bari Cultural Union during a cultural celebration held at Juba Na Bari Village. He said cultural unity should not be used for political purposes and added that communities are strongest when they stand together beyond political interests.
The Deputy Governor stressed that peace and unity remain essential for social stability and development, particularly in Central Equatoria State, where diverse communities live side by side.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports for Central Equatoria State, Rita Dominic Jada, also addressed the gathering. She encouraged the Bari Cultural Union to focus on proper documentation of Bari cultural traditions, practices and cultural items. She said written records are important for future reference and for protecting cultural heritage for the next generations.
The Commissioner of Juba County, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, also voiced the call for unity and urged the Bari community to reject any attempts aimed at dividing them. He said protecting Bari culture and preserving its heritage should remain a shared responsibility for all members of the community.
Commissioner Tete also praised the Bari youth for maintaining unity despite previous challenges and misunderstandings. He said their commitment and resilience play a key role in safeguarding the identity and values of the community.
The cultural celebration was attended by the Minister of Housing, Land and Public Utilities, the Minister of Information and Communication of Central Equatoria State and other government officials.
