(OPINION/Frank Gaga) – Fellow citizens of the Republic of South Sudan
Our nation was born through great sacrifice, courage and hope. The dreams of our martyrs and the aspirations of our people were rooted in freedom, dignity, peace and prosperity for all South Sudanese. That dream is still alive today, and it depends on each one of us.
Peace is not only the absence of war. It is the foundation on which development, stability and national progress are built. Without peace, our children cannot learn freely, our farmers cannot work their land safely, and our communities cannot grow and thrive. Unity among our diverse communities is therefore not a choice. It is a necessity for our survival and growth as a nation.
We must embrace one another beyond ethnic, political and regional differences. Our diversity is our strength, not our weakness. When we stand together as one people, we unlock the full potential of South Sudan and create space for development, reconciliation and shared prosperity.
I call on all citizens, including youth, women, elders, leaders and communities, to be ambassadors of peace in their homes, villages, counties and states. Dialogue must replace violence. Cooperation must replace division. Forgiveness must guide our journey forward.
Together, let us commit ourselves to building a peaceful, united and prosperous South Sudan, where development reaches every part of our country and hope is restored for future generations.
May peace prevail. May unity guide us. May South Sudan rise.
God bless you all, and God bless the Republic of South Sudan.
