Yei County Appoints New Water Board to Boost Service Delivery and Accountability

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, has appointed a new Board of Directors for Yei Town Water and Sanitation Services Limited, commonly known as YTWSSL.

The appointments were made through Local Order Number Three of 2026, signed on 18th July and taking immediate effect.

The newly appointed board is headed by James Wani Banja as Chairperson, with Bidali Martin Dumba serving as Deputy Chairperson. Other members include Mawa Robert as Secretary, Clement Peter Abe as Treasurer, Rose Doru Simbe, Adoru Hellen James, and a representative from the Yei Rural Water Department.

Speaking after the appointment, Chairperson James Wani Banja thanked the county leadership and the utility’s management for the trust placed in him. He called for teamwork and cooperation among board members, management and the county administration to ensure efficient management of the water utility.

Deputy Chairperson Bidali Martin Dumba also welcomed the appointment, urging members to serve with transparency, trust and commitment.

Meanwhile, Board Secretary Mawa Robert described the establishment of the board as a significant step towards strengthening oversight and improving the delivery of water services, noting that access to clean water remains essential for public health.

Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo said the water utility belongs to the people of Yei River County and requires strong governance and strategic leadership. He noted that the appointed members were selected based on their experience and integrity to support effective management and prevent mismanagement of the institution.

The Commissioner further directed the Managing Director of the utility to prepare a comprehensive report ahead of a planned meeting with the new board to review the institution’s current status and priorities.

The establishment of the new board is expected to strengthen governance and support ongoing efforts to improve water and sanitation services for residents across Yei River County.
