(JUBA)-South Sudan is taking a major step towards faster and more reliable digital connectivity after the National Communication Authority, or NCA, concluded a two-day inception workshop on developing the country’s National Spectrum Management and 5G Strategy.
The workshop brought together representatives from the Ministry of ICT and Postal Services, the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project, and international telecommunications expert Professor William Webb and his team.
During the discussions, experts shared global best practices on 5G technology and outlined a roadmap for its implementation in South Sudan. The roadmap includes stakeholder engagement, governance structures, technical planning and information gathering required to support next-generation mobile services.
Participants also focused on key safeguards such as strengthening national cybersecurity, improving the quality of network services for consumers and creating an enabling environment for investment in the technology sector.
The National Communication Authority says the collaboration will lay a strong foundation for the successful rollout of 5G technology, which is expected to deliver faster internet speeds, better connectivity and new economic opportunities across the country.
The initiative marks another important milestone in South Sudan’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation and expand access to modern communication technologies.
