(JUBA) – South Sudan is set to launch a national Trade Information Hub aimed at improving access to business data and streamlining trade processes, following approval by President Salva Kiir Mayardit after a government briefing on trade sector reforms.
Officials said the platform will provide traders and investors with clearer information on procedures, requirements and regulations, with the aim of improving transparency and reducing delays in business operations across the country.
The initiative forms part of wider reforms led by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Minister Atong Kuol Manyang briefed the President on progress within the sector, including the performance of the National Bureau of Standards.
Authorities said the hub will strengthen checks on imported goods, with a focus on ensuring the safety of food products and maintaining standards for medicines and vehicles entering South Sudan.
A statement from the Trade Ministry stated that improved access to trade information is expected to support businesses, encourage investment and help address challenges faced by traders, particularly in navigating regulatory processes.
While the Trade Information Hub has received presidential approval, the Ministry of Trade and Industry did not provide a specific date for its launch in the official statement.
