ICRC and South Sudan Red Cross Restores Clean Water Access in Kajo-Keji

(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in partnership with the South Sudan Red Cross, has improved access to safe drinking water for thousands of residents and displaced people in Kajo-Keji County through a major water and sanitation intervention.

ICRC in a statement posted on its social media handle over the weekend say, the initiative involved the repair of 12 boreholes and the distribution of more than 1,750 water filters across six villages, helping communities affected by recent clashes access clean and safe water. The project is expected to ease water shortages for both host communities and families displaced by insecurity while reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and improving public health.

The humanitarian partners say the restored water points and household filtration systems are expected to benefit thousands of people as communities work to rebuild their lives and recover from the impact of recent violence.
