(JUBA)- The Central Equatoria State Ministry of Health on Thursday hosted a delegation from Amref Health Africa in Juba to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving healthcare service delivery across the state.
During the meeting, Amref Health Africa Project Manager, Modong Manuela, outlined the organisation’s ongoing support in South Sudan. The interventions include strengthening human resources for health through support to the Juba Nursing and Midwifery Institute, improving health service delivery, supporting oxygen plant systems, enhancing health policy management, and empowering community health workers.
Manuela reaffirmed Amref Health Africa’s commitment to maintaining its partnership with the Ministry of Health and supporting efforts to expand access to quality healthcare services in Central Equatoria State.
Director General of the State Ministry of Health, Dr. James Wani, praised Amref for its continued contribution to the health sector and called for increased investment in professional development opportunities for nursing and midwifery graduates.
Meanwhile, the State Minister of Health, Joyce Bakwa Agole, welcomed the delegation and assured them of the ministry’s support in addressing challenges that may arise during programme implementation.
She also briefed the team on the upcoming “Revive Our PHCC” initiative, a community-led programme designed to revitalise Primary Health Care Centres across the state, and invited Amref Health Africa to become a key partner in its implementation.
The meeting underscores growing efforts by the government and health partners to strengthen healthcare systems and improve health outcomes for communities across Central Equatoria State.
